Being able to listen, and show compassion and understanding without judgement, can be challenging at first. Sometimes we may find ourselves jumping to conclusions and judgement, without fully understanding a situation, or the persons perspective, motive, or reason.
“So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding.” (King James Version, 2017, Proverbs 2:2)
Listening without judgement goes both ways. Remember that when you judge others, you end up judging yourself. There are many other people who have experiences, knowledge, and good judgement, we need to open our hearts to understand where they are coming from or what they have learned. Listening to someone can be another way of connecting and helping someone. A lot of times when people vent, they aren’t looking for solutions, they are looking to be heard. Many times they need validation of their feelings and thoughts.
